Indie developer Dapper Dog Digital launched their “love letter to the Metroidvania style” this week with BioGun, a platforming action-adventure that takes place completely inside a whimsically microscopic world of viruses and vaccines. And whimsically pleasant it’s, with a hand-drawn world and characters which have a large, pleasant, and cartoonish selection of their design.
As you discover the chambers and atmosphere of the cell-eat-cell world you end up in, your little vaccine upgrades their DNA and modifies their playstyle utilizing nanotech to get new powers, tweaking how they transfer and shoot, and incomes every kind of latest weapons for the side-scrolling 360-degree taking pictures—which I’ve gotta say feels fairly tight and controls properly as of launch.
Also, the soundtrack is basically, actually good. It’s made by Juhani Junkala, aka Subspace Audio, and will actually be on sale individually.
The plot’s fairly goofy, however matches the animation and style properly: You’re a “sensible vaccine” tasked with saving the world from a “pet-demic” that threatens all good canine in all places, which I feel we are able to all agree is essential work.
BioGun launched into early entry this week, on April 16, and plans to be there for round three months. Developers Dapper Dog Digital have laid out a plan of including new aspect missions and actions world wide, in addition to at the very least one new character to work together with and a few group occasions to participate in.
You can discover BioGun on Steam.
