Samsung has simply formally introduced some main offers signed by its chip manufacturing division. After a chaotic episode with Nvidia, Samsung is about to regain a foothold within the manufacturing market by signing offers with AMD and TESLA. According to some leaks, AMD might be adopting Intel’s technique up to now for its future Zen 5c-based processors and APUs. These will use a hybrid configuration, with TSMC engraving the chiplets containing the cores and Samsung dealing with the I/O chip. This is a course of that AMD has mastered, because the controller of its CPUs is at the moment in 6 nm and the cores in 5 nm… But the entire operation is carried out at TSMC. An operation which might subsequently require logistics between service suppliers.

Samsung Foundry’s return to the limelight shouldn’t, nevertheless, obscure actuality. We can simply establish two explanations for this changeover. Firstly, availability, given that Apple has already snapped up most of TSMC’s 3nm capability, and that Nvidia might be following swimsuit with its next-generation graphics chips. Finally, worth, as Samsung clearly must hold its Fabs operating . Tesla, for its half, is more likely to place itself on the Korean firm’s 5nm node, once more with a view to breaking out of its dependence on TSMC.
