Scott detailed extra of what Keeve Trennis’ arc is in The High Republic Marvel comedian, with problem #1 simply releasing this previous Wednesday. He spoke about how Phase III begins with the Jedi and Keeve in a really bleak place, and it’s as much as them to stay optimistic:

“The first few tales of the part are darkish. You know, Starlight is gone, [Marchion] Ro is triumphant, and these Jedi need to earn that hope once more. I feel that’s the fascinating factor. When I launched the Marvel comedian initially with the dedication of Starlight Beacon, the Jedi…had nobody to push towards them. Everyone revered them due to what they stood for. But now we’re seeing them need to be taught what which means. For among the Jedi, they’re questioning, and for different Jedi, they’re seeing it as the chance to go, “No, it is a likelihood to point out the sunshine as a result of we’re in darkness. So we must be lighter than ever.”

I feel that’s the place we see Keeve in the beginning of this collection. She spent your complete first part plagued with doubts about herself. This is a woman — now a girl — who questioned her proper to be a Jedi after which has discovered herself promoted. She didn’t assume she ought to have been a Knight, not to mention a Master. And she’s at all times received Avar at the back of her thoughts. Avar was a hero. Avar was the particular person she regarded as much as and she or he noticed what occurred to her. [Keeve] doesn’t need it to occur to herself, as effectively. So, yeah, it’s actually thrilling to be again in the beginning, however I feel it was robust writing these first couple of points as a result of Keeve just isn’t the Keeve we all know. She has been underneath the cosh for a 12 months now and she or he’s struggling.”

Mann additionally echoed a few of these sentiments. In his dialog with Scott, Mann talked about The Eye of Darkness and the way Avar Kriss is coping with the same state of affairs:

George Mann: The Jedi have been correctly challenged in a manner that they’re not used to. Like Avar…at this level, she’s fascinated about how far she’s fallen. But she begins Eye of Darkness and it’s virtually the alternative journey to Keeve. It’s all the best way again from that doubt. And realizing, truly, I want to be part of one thing greater. That’s what the Jedi are, you already know?

Cavan Scott: Their arcs have at all times mirrored one another and been inverted from one another. That was at all times the plan with them.

George Mann: There’s a form of a trajectory there for the entire of the Jedi at first of this part, which is, you already know, that they’re not as collectively as they had been each individually and as a unit, as an Order. That’s what they need to be taught; to push and pull in the identical path and acknowledge that there’s hope they usually have to hold that hope ahead into the longer term.

Later of their dialogue, Mann teased his fall 2024 Tears of the Nameless young-adult novel, saying he cried “writing the ultimate pages.” Meanwhile, Scott seemingly revealed he’s engaged on a to-be-announced undertaking. He additionally says followers will lose their minds once they see the quilt for The High Republic problem #5. Their full dialog could be discovered on StarWars.com

Now traumatized, he’s misplaced the power to make use of the Force. He’s simply attempting to maintain his associates alive… however the Force has at all times been a very powerful factor in Gavi’s life and he isn’t positive who he’s with out it. And then there are his burgeoning romantic emotions for his pal, one other youngling boy named Kildo… and his sophisticated emotions of guilt surrounding Driggit Parse, the non-Jedi pal he left behind.”

Sly and irreverent, Kildo by no means turns down the possibility to play pranks. Using the Force comes simply to him, however he struggles with focus and guidelines. ‘Great potential, wants to use himself,’ is his lecturers’ foremost criticism. He’s a trickster with a coronary heart of gold.”

There’s a pack of 5 acklays who would die for her, and on the quilt of Escape From Valo, she’s holding a child nexu. Jedi don’t adhere to household buildings, however Tep Tep is mainly everybody’s little sister.”
