See an Iconic Sonic Statue From London Restored to Its Former Glory in Time for Gamescom

This Sonic statue greeted Segaworld visitors in London for many years. Now it returns to Gamescom.

Many UK avid gamers have fond reminiscences of Segaworld, a large arcade billed as the biggest in Europe through the Nineteen Nineties. Greeting guests on the entrance was an enormous standing of Sonic the Hedgehog spinning a globe on his finger. It was probably the most thrilling entrance to an arcade a ’90s teen might ever think about.

IGN Japan editor Daniel Robson is amongst those that have fond reminiscences of the Sonic statue, saying that it is “seared completely” into his reminiscence.

“The arcade was closed after 4 years in 2000, and I had assumed the statue was gone perpetually,” he says

Much just like the arcade scene normally, the Sonic statue was thought misplaced to time. But in a brand new video posted to Sega Forever on X, the statue is seen being uncovered and fantastically restored. It’s not the one statue followers are attempting to save lots of, both.
