Microsoft Activision Deal Will Reduce Competition, Says Canada

In a shocking transfer, the Canadian Competition Bureau (CCB) penned a letter to Judge Jacqueline Corley yesterday, expressing its considerations concerning the Microsoft-Activision deal and asking Microsoft to appropriate “inaccuracies” in its statements. Judge Corley has been listening to U.S. regulator Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) case towards the merger.

As reported by The Verge, CCB took difficulty with Microsoft claiming in courtroom that “each single worldwide regulator” has rejected FTC’s theories of hurt, with the solely exception being the U.Okay. However, CCB stated that it advised Microsoft in early May that the deal will reduce competitors within the console and gaming subscription area, and that it’ll proceed to “monitor” the transaction. It then requested Microsoft to speak this to Judge Corley.

Microsoft didn’t reply on to CCB’s assertion, selecting as a substitute to level out that the regulator had a window of alternative to stop the merger, however allowed that deadline to elapse.
