In The Heights actor Melissa Barrera, who for the previous few years has been taking part in Sam Carpenter within the Scream franchise, has been dropped from the following movie by manufacturing firm Spyglass Media. The motive, in line with Spyglass? Social media posts by Barrera that supported the Palestinian facet of the Israeli-Hamas battle and that, it was claimed, verged into hate speech.
“Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any kind, together with false references to genocide, ethnic cleaning, Holocaust distortion or something that flagrantly crosses the road into hate speech,” a Spyglass spokesperson advised Variety.
Barrera has but to touch upon the matter past her posts, however her firing is simply the most recent instance of the unbelievable divide in Hollywood (and, after all, the broader world) over the difficulty of the battle.
