In David Fincher’s The Killer, Michael Fassbender performs the titular hitman, who will get wrapped up in a world manhunt after an project goes very improper. In the trailer, Fassbender repeats the mantra, “Stick to the plan.” He says, “Trust nobody, forbid empathy, anticipate … don’t improvise, by no means yield a bonus, combat solely the battle you’re paid to combat. Ask your self: What’s in it for me?” The A.V. Club’s Brent Simon writes, “The Killer efficiently aligns viewers with its kind; its most memorable moments lie in its textures, its austere settings, its well-ordered frames. That the movie doesn’t stir something within the unconscious, although, is its biggest shock.”
